Welcome!
I am so glad to have you here!
I'm Bridget. Mom of 2, Ronan and Teaghan, Wife of 1, Justin and I have 3 fur babies, 2 boxers Griffin and Gus and a street cat names Guinness... We call our furbabies the G-Unit for kicks... Yep, that's how we roll.
Hopefully you will enjoy my little musings about life, love, food and children... I will try to throw in some recipes, crafts and whatever else my little heart desires...
I will also try to throw in some running... Well, lets call it what it really is, walking and jogging for 30 seconds -2 minutes and hoping I don't keel over and die before I get home... For me to really "run" I have to imagine being chased... Generally, it's by a tiger or a bear... But it would have to be an injured one because God knows I couldn't run for a REAL tiger or bear... You have seen the discovery channel, I don't even think that Jamaican running guy, Hussain Bolt (thank you google), could out run a Tiger... I would be tiger food at this point... So, I run from an injured not very hungry tiger, that way I will at least survive my "run."
So anyway, why I was discussing running again?? Oh, I remember now! I have QUIET a few friends who LOOOOVE running... They lace up their sneakers and pump out a cool 5-7 miles after work and post on Facebook "Just did 7 miles, I feel GREAT!!" I don't get it... I am tired, winded, my knees hurt when I attempt to run 1 mile let alone 7!!!! but they SWEAR by it... I like these people, and they aren't on drugs or freaks, so there must be SOMETHING to this running thing right???
I agree it is GREAT exercise and will help you lose weight and get in shape but man, I just HATE it...
A LOT...
These "friends" say it gets better and you then can't live without it (doubtful, but we shall see), so I will give it a shot...
A few of my "friends" completed the Nike Women Marathon and 1/2 Marathon in SF over the weekend, you ladies ROCK!!! Another few of my "friends" completed the Chicago Marathon a couple weekends ago, again, you guys ROCK!! I thought to myself, "Bridge, you should do that... You're ::GASP:: almost 31 and you need a fitness goal... And a good one at that... "
A little research later and I find out that Nike is doing the Inaugural Nike Women's 1/2 Marathon in DC on April 28, 2013 AND I haven't missed the registration!! WOOT! Go ME!! And, if it's like the other Nike Women Marathon's You get a Tiffany Necklace at the end!
Wait, what's that? I finish 13.1 miles and someone in a tux hands me a necklace in a little blue box with a pretty white ribbon!?!?!?!? Now THAT is motivation!!!
Running + Tiffany's..... IT'S DESTINY!!!!
I am waiting on the registration details but I will post them here if anyone is interested!
I will post a "training" schedule here and my updates as I accomplish them... I will have to throw in some other races to get ready in between... But I have about 6.5 months, I CAN and WILL do this!!
